Blockchain Snapshot Services

Having run blockchain nodes for over 3 years, Nodies understands the challenges of maintaining blockchain nodes—whether it’s navigating hardforks, recovering from node crashes, dealing with database corruptions, etc. We’ve dealt with it all, and we feel your pain! That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new Blockchain Snapshot Service, designed to help developers mitigate these challenges efficiently and effectively.

What is a Snapshot

A snapshot is essentially a copy of the blockchain data, capturing a historical state of the network at a specific range of time. An archival snapshot includes data from the network’s inception (genesis) onward, while a pruned snapshot contains data from a limited number of recent blocks, starting from the moment the snapshot is taken.

Why do Snapshots matter

When running a blockchain node, it can crash on occasions, causing the node’s entire data to be corrupted and unrecoverable. Another use case is if you’re starting to sync a node from scratch, it can take weeks to sync from block zero depending on the blockchain. This is where snapshots come in. Snapshots provide a fast and reliable way to restore a node to a known good state, minimizing downtime and helping you get back to building quicker.

Introducing Nodies’ Snapshot Service

We’ve built an in-house snapshot tool that leverages our own RPC nodes to create accurate and reliable blockchain snapshots without any impact on our RPC services. Our snapshots support any chain data size, upwards to 1 Petabytes+. Our snapshots are hosted in multiple geographic regions (varying by chain), allowing for fast download speeds no matter where you are.

As part of our commitment to fostering the growth and stability of blockchain ecosystems, we’re offering these snapshots at no cost to download. We believe that through making high-performant snapshots easily accessible, we aim to help developers save time, reduce overhead, and concentrate on what they do best—innovating and building.
